“It’s a movie about two men building a house, and having their own struggles, but they’re good friends and they’re very close, and they’re not even lovers, but they’re close, and they’re connected—it’s actually about a different kind of fertility. We usually assume that fertility is about fucking and making babies, but actually fertility is a much richer concept and broader. It’s about two people who really care and are connected and they want to create something new together, as a couple, not necessarily sexually. And it’s about having a fertile relationship where their interaction leads to something new and better. So when you’re building a house and you have a fertile relationship, you have back and forth, uh—feeding off of each other’s ideas and building something. If it’s a really genuine, fertile relationship.”
